The technology industry will shift a lot more towards online and browser based solutions. The operating system itself will become more and more obsolete. eCommerce is about to reinvent itself and focus a lot more towards mobile commerce where customers can buy online wherever they are and whenever they want.

I am always exited by new technology and old technology that is proven and sometimes forgotten or underestimated. There are for example new technologies like REST web services which are built on top of the old technology HTTP which have many exciting uses.

A straight line is the fastest way between two points: Keep it simple. The best ideas are clean and clear. A collaboration tool such as a wiki is essential for project communication and aids an agile approach.

A project for a Non-Profit startup. We were using a relatively new technology at the time called Ruby on Rails but it fit the needs of a client with an extremely tight budget and with 3 months to launch to catch the holiday season. We accomplished both goals and have been advocates of this technology ever since.

Proficiency. I just love how you can always find somebody within arvato systems who knows the answer to the most obscure question and is willing to help you finding a solution.

Honesty. It is the easiest thing to do but the benefits for the whole project are immense. Projects that are run that way are not only more successful, they also create a great work environment and trusting and satisfied customers. The IT industry has been ever-changing, evolving and therefore exciting business for me over the last 15 years and that will continue. Currently the mobile business starts getting very interesting. Today''s devices and data plans make for a huge and fast growing market.

It's organization. There are independent smaller departments - giving them flexibility, being agile - that act together globally to manage very large and very different projects. I worked at many different places with many different people from arvato systems all over the world and it is always fun.
